Online onboarding for remote employees doesn't have to be dull and boring.

It is possible to WOW your new hires with a digital onboarding experience delivered by Enboarder. Below, we have compiled a list of ideas you can use to build a workflow suitable for remote onboarding.

Remote Onboarding Best Practices:

Video On The Go
Engage your new hire with our Video On The Go feature to deliver welcome messages and short or informal induction videos.

Prompt managers, new hires or any of your people to record and submit videos from their mobile. And don’t worry about uploading and downloading. Simply record - review- send! It's as simple as a selfie!

If you don't have access to Video On The Go, please reach out to your dedicated Customer Success Manager or Relationship Manager for more information.

Send A Welcome Package
Create a wow moment by sending a welcome package to your new hire. This could include: their laptop, phone, tools of trade, company swag, personalized gifts and even their 3pm munchie to enjoy on their first day!

Enboarder can help to automate this process by capturing any requirements from the direct manager or another stakeholder using Forms and sending the information onto the right department or person to organize.

Provide Tips For Working Remotely
For some of your new hires, working from home may be a completely new experience as it may be a big adjustment from office-based life. Help your new hires settle in to their at home working environment by providing a list of tips using a Content Page. Some suggested topics include: setting up their work station, establishing a routine, establishing work/life balance and how to stay connected with their team and the wider business.

Minimize Paperwork With e-Signing
Avoid printing out documents and minimize paperwork by integrating Enboarder with an e-signing tool. We currently have Electronic Signing integrations with: DocuSign, Adobe Sign, Hello Sign and SecuredSigning.

Implement A Remote Buddy Program
Buddy programs are a great way to help your new hires build relationships and establish important connections to help them be successful in their new role. For remote employees, a buddy, or multiple buddies, can assist with the transition into remote work, learning about the company, culture and role.

Multiple buddies could include team members from the same or cross-functional teams.

If you would like assistance with setting up a Buddy Sequence to assign and send communications to the chosen buddy (or buddies), please reach out to your Customer Success Manager.

Build An Engaging Remote Work Culture
It is possible to build and maintain a fun and engaging culture when working remotely. Here are some ideas you can build into your Enboarder communications:

  • Prompt direct managers to hold a virtual coffee meeting with their new hire over video by using the Event module.

  • Hang 10 - encourage new hires to spend 10 minutes with someone over video who isn't in their team.

  • Encourage new hires to share photos of their family, pets or their favorite hobby in their 'A Bit About You' survey. Automatically share their response with their direct manager by using a Send Data: Email module via email and ask them to use this when they introduce their new hire on Slack or via email.

  • Conduct a weekly, fortnightly or monthly all-hands meeting to bring all teams together, nurture the company culture and share important company announcements.

With remote onboarding, there are many ways you can create a memorable and engaging online experience. Hopefully, these tips have given you some inspiration for your workflow!
