The Update Value module is incredibly powerful.✨ You can use this module to update values of existing/blank details within a workflow.

For example - you can use the Update Value module to auto-update an employee’s work email on their first day in the business, or even to ask employees how they want to be communicated with!

Let's take a closer look into how this works! In this example, let's update the employees preferred contact information.

Note: Before you update a value, you need to capture the data to update somewhere in that Workflow prior to adding the Update Value module. You can use a Form module to capture the new email/phone number (using the Contact Channel widget in the forms module) and then save it. Now you'll be able to create an Update Value module!

Start by clicking the Update Value module and dragging it into the sequence you'd like to trigger this action.

Once you've clicked Update Value, you'll see the following screen:

It's broken down into two places. Update this field - With this value. For our example, the field we want to update is the employee's chosen contact.

Like using any Dynamic Tokens, you'll select Profiles > Employee > Contact Details. We use 'Contact Details' as this updates their preferred contact channel. If you pick Mobile or Email, it will update that - however, if the employee's preferred channel is Mobile, and you update their Email - the employee would continue to receive communications to their mobile.

Once you've selected a field to update, you can then choose what to update that field with. For our example, we'll use Forms > Preferred Contact > Contact.

You can also use the Update Value module to update Custom Fields, Categories, employees key dates, and more!
